How the research developed
The early work set out to establish whether fermented red ginseng affected metabolic markers. That a marker had changed, however, explained nothing on its own; to address how the change came about, the design moved towards measuring hormonal and autonomic markers alongside the outcome.
That perspective later broadened into plant-based nutrition generally and the physiology of fasting, and it now underpins the commissioned clinical research the institute carries out on ginseng and medicinal plants.
